It’s that time of year again when we look at what has happened for us in 2023.

There is no doubt that 2023 was a hard year for a number of manufacturers in both the UK and further afield. With the increasing number of world events outside anyone’s control, it felt like there would have to be a lot of change. There were conflicting reports in the press about whether we were growing or shrinking as an economy, all leading to market uncertainty. That’s never a good thing, is it?

However, despite wars, supply chain issues, and ever-increasing energy costs, there were some highlights!

Syteline User Group

This is always on our list of highlights. We enjoy being active group members and always try to be at the virtual or live events. 2023 was no exception.

We were incredibly proud of our talk at the SUG in May. We had standing-room only, and the feedback was extremely positive. We also had a similar response from our talk at the Tech SIG, which again received terrific feedback from all who attended. You can be sure that we’ll be doing much more of this in 2024!

Find out more about the user group here.

NWAA

We became members of the North West Aerospace Alliance in 2023. It had been on our radar for a while (see what we did there?), but we finally joined in the summer of last year.

This has been such a valuable experience for us because not only have we been able to attend the events that they host, but we’re also part of their Watchtower program. But we’ll talk more about that soon.

If you’re in the aerospace industry and have been on the fence about joining, we’d recommend it! It’s worth the membership fees even if you decide to use it as a networking opportunity.

New Products and Services

This is incredibly exciting for us. Like most years, we spent a lot of 2023 really listening to what our clients were talking about and the hot topics. Not only that but where are the pain points when it comes to running a business in 2024?

Two of the most significant topics right now are having enough cash in your business, more on that later, and net zero.

It can feel confusing with net zero, so it’s about understanding what that means for a company looking at where to start its decarbonisation journey.

We are developing a new service to help businesses reach net zero. This might sound like we are off in a new direction, but actually we’re not. Most of the first steps that you need to take to get to net zero are about understanding where you are currently. That means looking at data, processes, and how they all fit together in your business. That is right within our zone of genius. We’ll discuss that over the coming weeks, so watch our LinkedIn page for more updates.

The other thing is cashflow.

This is huge, and most ERP systems are really not designed with cashflow reporting in mind. The alternative usually means a lot of spreadsheets or manual activity just to determine your cash position. We clearly needed to do something about it!

So, we’re developing a Cashflow Add-In for SyteLine. If you’re on our mailing list, you’ll already have a sneaky update about this. We’re planning on sending some more information out soon. So again, watch this space for more news as it happens!

So there you have it, our round-up of 2023!

This year has been hard for some of our clients; we understand that. But we also know that there are a lot of businesses out there who are really looking at change and looking at how they can be more agile given the changing business climate.

If you’re interested in the Cashflow Add-in or our Net Zero Health Check (which is coming soon), please get in touch, and we can discuss these further with you.
